Sign up for a Shift at the Beach

Come volunteer with the Aliso Niguel Democratic Club at local beaches throughout the summer. We'll be talking to beachgoers about Republican plans to expand offshore drilling in California, the history of drilling-related coastal oil spills, and the Democrats on the November ballot who will work to block this threat to the coast.
Visit our Offshore Drilling in Orange County page for info about the history of oil spills in O.C. and the politics and policies surrounding the issue.
Sign up on our Volunteer Signup page; shifts are 2.5 hours.

I tried to sign up for some shifts but when I click on the links found on this page, I get an ERROR message! I did this 5 times; 5 times I got error messages. Can you please send the correct links to me so I can sign up?
So sorry for the difficulty. Those other links have now been replaced by a single correct link.
Is there a group for North County Beaches?
I am in Costa Mesa. I am concerned about our beaches. There has been more oil then usual this year on the beaches. I’m wondering if some sort of deregulation has occurred under the current administration.
Also, I am interested in supporting No More Offshore Drilling in OC and California as a whole.
While there are a number of Democratic clubs and environmental groups in North County, we’re not aware of any doing what we’re doing. Consider reaching out to the Costa Mesa Democratic Club (http://www.costamesademocrats.org/) and see what their current projects are. Our project does discuss candidates around Orange County, including the CA-48 race and the AD-74 race, both of which encompass Costa Mesa, as the visitors to the beaches we are targeting come from around the County.
In terms of immediate action, Assembly Bill 1775 is pending in the CA Senate Appropriations Committee. It’s been watered down, but it’s still worth supporting as a barrier to further offshore drilling. Consider contacting your state senator and asking them to support AB 1775.
